Background

Studying Psychology at the prestigious University of Lagos has equipped me with a strong sense of empathy and an understanding of human behavior. My studies have also provided me with the skills necessary to analyze data and conduct research effectively, which are essential assets for understanding human behavior.

In 2021, I delved into tech by learning front-end development using HTML and CSS3. After a few months, I discovered UI/UX design and became fascinated with it. I started taking YouTube courses on UI/UX and completed a professional certification course from Futurelearn. Subsequently, I formalized my knowledge by obtaining a professional certification in UX and UI design from Nerdy Eye Academy, one of Lagos, Nigeria's most reputable tech schools and educational platforms.

Following this, I interned with Nerdy Eye, a tech agency and academy. We worked on an e-commerce project for one of their clients under the supervision of our instructor, Mr. Samuel Linus. Three months later, I secured my first contract gig with Declutta, a green tech e-commerce platform. I also took on a contract gig as a lead product designer at a logistics company based in Nigeria.

Before venturing into tech, I worked as a professional keyboard player and music producer. This experience has taught me a lot about teamwork and collaboration, which has been invaluable in my career. Over time, I have developed professionalism, soft skills, and social intelligence, which have also greatly contributed to my success as a music producer, having worked with numerous artists and bands.

How does this apply to my product design venture? Well, one of the most valuable lessons I've learned as a musician is that I do not play what I know, but rather what is necessary in the context of the music for the optimal satisfaction of the listeners.

Career Goals and Expectations

My goals and expectations for my career have evolved over the years and they're quite dynamic in nature. I have expectations of myself, Organizations i would be serving with my expertise, colleagues and the technology industry at large.

I have an expectation of myself to maintain a spirit of excellence at all times, and also operate with a growth mindset. So far in my tech career, i see myself exactly where i had planned to be when i started out. This didn't come easy, but my passion and love for my field made the dedication and hardwork look easy.

I always wanted an avenue to reach people and improve the quality of their living experience. This has been my primary motivator all along. I also wanted to position myself in the technology industry because of its propensity to enable impact, scalability, and eventually, financial profits. To be able to achieve this, i expect myself to be exceptional and to possess all the necessary work ethic to be top of the competition in an industry seemingly saturated with fellow enthusiasts and hopefuls.

An ideal organization i would love to work with is one that is vision driven and disruptive, with an inclusive workplace culture and environment that allows for creativity and a healthy relationship dynamic amongst colleagues to thrive. I love an organization that places value on their employees and works at putting them in the best position to perform optimally.
